Vietnam recorded a record $50.36 billion in registered foreign direct investment during the first nine months of 2026, a 76.4% increase from a year earlier. This surge signals strong confidence in the country’s economy.

Disbursed capital also rose, reaching $21.07 billion – 12.1% higher than the same period last year and the highest level in five years. The rise in both registered and disbursed funds indicates that more projects are moving from planning to operation.

Foreign‑invested enterprises contributed $350.4 billion to Vietnam’s total export turnover of $434.3 billion in the first nine months, accounting for 80.7% of all exports. Their strong presence shows how FDI is driving the country’s trade performance.

In Ha Tinh province, gross regional domestic product grew 12.36% and the industrial production index jumped 40.2%, thanks to large FDI‑backed facilities such as Formosa Ha Tinh Steel and the Vung Ang II power plant. Meanwhile, Hai Phong’s GRDP rose 12.08% as new capacity in electronics, mechanical engineering, metals and automobile components came online.

Large‑scale projects in semiconductors, artificial intelligence and digital transformation are being undertaken by firms such as Infineon, Samsung and LG. These investments are strengthening Vietnam’s role in high‑tech manufacturing and global semiconductor supply chains.

The record inflow of foreign investment is expanding production capacity, boosting exports and laying the groundwork for a more diversified, high‑tech economy. This development is a key factor for Vietnam’s continued economic growth and the potential for new skilled‑worker opportunities.
