The first Vietnam Calligraphy Festival opened on October 22 at the historic Co Mat Vien site inside the Hue Imperial Citadel, as part of the Hue Festival 2026. This event shows how a cultural celebration can protect tradition and help tourism.
The festival is jointly organised by the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, the Vietnam Association of Artisans and Brands, and FTP Exhibition and Communications JSC. They are listed as the event’s organisers.
More than 100 exhibition booths display both Han‑Nom and Vietnamese‑language calligraphy. On October 24, students and tourists can try traditional techniques such as preparing ink, holding brushes, and practising basic strokes. The event aims to preserve and promote the calligraphy tradition, give artisans and researchers a platform, and boost cultural tourism in Hue.
Director Hoang Viet Trung said the festival offers meaningful experiences that tell stories about Vietnamese culture and helps heritage preservation and sustainable tourism. The festival therefore connects art, education, and tourism for the community.
