Early reviewers have found several hidden software tricks in Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo. These features aim to make video calls, one‑handed operation, photography and note‑taking smoother for everyday users.

Edge Light turns the unfolded display’s edges into a virtual lighting ring during FaceTime calls, giving extra illumination in dim environments. Reviewers note that this reduces the need for an external ring light, improving the user’s appearance on camera.

Apple has redesigned Reachability for the Duo’s wider screen. Instead of only moving the interface down, users can swipe left or right to shift parts of the screen, making controls easier to reach with one hand.

Smart Take automatically snaps a photo when the people in the frame are ready, which helps with group pictures. The feature also lets the external screen act as a live viewfinder, and Apple Pencil support is scheduled to arrive with iOS 27.2, adding handwriting, note‑taking and sketching on the larger internal display.

Some third‑party apps still do not fill the full unfolded screen, leaving black sidebars on each side. However, developers such as Slack have already optimized their apps for the Duo’s dimensions, and more updates are expected.

Together, these software additions show how the iPhone Duo can simplify everyday tasks like video calls, single‑handed use, photography and note‑taking. The overall experience will improve further as more apps adapt to the foldable format.
