From 13 to 16 November, Hanoi will host the first Global Craft Village Preservation and Development Festival at the historic Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The event brings together about 200 delegates from more than 50 countries, offering a clear view of new business and travel chances for Vietnam.

The festival’s theme, “Converging craft village cultural identities – connecting global excellence”, aims to honour artisans, promote traditional crafts and encourage international cooperation, trade and craft‑village tourism. Around 10,000 sqm will display Vietnamese and foreign handicrafts, live demos and digital projects.

Four Hanoi craft villages recognised by the World Crafts Council – Bat Trang, Van Phuc, Son Dong and Chuyen My – each receive a 90‑sq.m exhibition space. The booths will showcase local products and demonstrate traditional techniques.

The programme includes a conference on investment promotion for rural industrial products and the Asia‑Pacific Handicraft Product Competition, which lets artisans and designers exchange ideas. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, called on localities and agencies to strengthen coordination, promote the event and finish preparations on schedule.

Organisers expect the festival to reinforce Hanoi’s role as a regional and international handicraft hub while opening fresh opportunities for investment, exports and tourism. Visitors and businesses alike can look forward to stronger links between Vietnam’s craft villages and global markets.
