European corporations and businesses presented potential projects in Vietnam worth an estimated €20 billion (US$22.4 billion), according to Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The size of the plan makes it a key story for anyone thinking about future career opportunities in the country.
Le Hoai Trung said European partners asked Vietnam to improve its legal and policy frameworks so they are more stable, transparent and predictable for long‑term investment. He added that such certainty will attract more cooperation.
At a business forum in Copenhagen, Party chief and President To Lam urged Danish companies to move from simply “investing in Vietnam” to “investing alongside Vietnam.” He asked them to bring research, innovation and green‑growth activities, and to help train Vietnamese engineers. During his visit to Belgium, To Lam also stressed that cooperation should focus on technology, development standards and deeper roles for businesses in global value chains.
Both Vietnam and its European partners agreed to upgrade their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on renewable energy, offshore wind, green logistics, seaports and high‑quality workforce training, according to statements by Le Hoai Trung. The top diplomat warned that the main challenge is turning these high‑level commitments into concrete programmes, projects and products.
If the €20 billion of planned projects are realised, they could create many new jobs, provide advanced training for Vietnamese engineers and bring modern technologies to local companies. Success will depend on clear policies and on moving from agreements to real‑world projects.
