From Waste to Wealth: Vietnamese Companies Turn By‑Products into Green Products

Từ phế thải thành của cải: Doanh nghiệp Việt biến phụ phẩm thành sản phẩm xanh

Nguồn: Tuoitre

Vietnamese businesses and research institutes are showing how agricultural and seafood by‑products can be transformed into consumer goods, fertilizers and textile materials. Their projects are on display at the fourth Green Growth Show, GRECO 2026, offering a vivid example of waste‑to‑value innovation.

GRECO 2026 occupies roughly 11,000 m² in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, hosting 90 exhibition booths and nearly 70 domestic and international organisations. The fair gathers companies, universities and NGOs that promote green solutions across many sectors. Visitors can see the latest technologies that turn waste into marketable products.

Fuwa3e extracts enzymes from pineapple peels and uses them to formulate hand soap, dishwashing liquid and floor cleaner. The company is also testing pet‑care items such as shampoo and body wash.

VNF Company demonstrates a model that converts shrimp processing waste from the Mekong Delta into several high‑value outputs. The waste is processed into fertilizer, shrimp‑protein products and pet food, which helps to lower the environmental pollution normally caused by untreated by‑products. According to the company's sales director, this approach adds economic value while protecting waterways.

Researchers from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry presented fabrics made from pineapple, coconut and banana fibers, dyed with newly developed natural colourants. These textile samples illustrate how agricultural residues can become raw material for fashion and industrial applications. Japanese and South Korean partners have already expressed interest in the prototypes.

The displays at GRECO 2026 prove that waste streams can be upgraded into profitable, eco‑friendly products. By applying modern technologies, Vietnamese innovators are creating new business opportunities and reducing pollution at the same time.
