Turning Da Lat’s Coffee Scene into a Night‑Time Magnet
Biến cảnh quan cà phê Đà Lạt thành điểm hút về đêm

Vietnam boasts one of the world’s most diverse coffee cultures, but the night‑time economic impact of this culture remains largely untapped. To address this, Da Lat has been proposed as a pilot city to turn cafés into night‑time attractions.
A vibrant night‑time economy relies not only on attracting visitors after dark, but also on keeping them in places where they can stay longer and engage in activities. Coffee culture can provide that by turning cafés into social hubs where people gather, linger, and interact.
Key steps: ‘slow spaces’ with music and coffee storytelling; tradition plus specialty coffee. Other actions are night‑time coffee streets with light dining and live music, cool climate and scenery, and linking coffee stories to the night‑time value chain.
Da Lat could develop these ideas around Xuan Huong Lake, the Hoa Binh area and other scenic spots, while Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Cần Thơ could adopt similar models tailored to their local characteristics. The proposal shows how each city can use its own climate, scenery and coffee heritage to create night‑time attractions.
The Da Lat plan demonstrates that a coffee‑centric strategy can turn cafés into night‑time magnets, encouraging longer stays and higher spending. Other Vietnamese cities can learn from this model to energize their evening life and boost local economies.
