The APEC 2027 Convention Center and a multipurpose performance venue are being built on Phu Quoc Island, with 98% of structural work finished as of October 23. The projects aim to turn the island into a leading hub for international conferences and entertainment.

Sun Group, the developer, said the convention centre will start trial operations on 30 January 2027 and reach full completion in late February. The adjacent performance venue, which seats more than 4,000 people, is slated for completion by 30 April, while 17 hotels expected to serve APEC 2027 should be ready by September.

Provincial officials explain that the complex is intended to establish Phu Quoc as a major destination for conferences, exhibitions and entertainment, strengthening its MICE position and supporting long‑term tourism development. Nguyen Thanh Phong, standing vice‑chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the projects will deliver long‑term economic benefits and urged cooperation with local producers, cooperatives and businesses to expand market access and create new opportunities.

In parallel, the GO! Rach Gia shopping mall – covering more than 16,000 m² – is being built in An Giang Province and will open by the end of 2027. The mall will host a hypermarket, restaurants, entertainment areas and fashion outlets, forming part of the province’s effort to expand commercial infrastructure ahead of APEC 2027. Officials hope the mall will further stimulate the local economy and provide additional services for visitors.
