Ho Chi Minh City unveiled 12 investment projects worth over US$13 billion during the Autumn Economic Forum 2026. The announcement is significant because the city wants to become a regional financial and economic hub.
The projects span seaports, logistics, urban development, high‑technology and industrial manufacturing sectors. By covering these key areas, the city hopes to attract diverse foreign and domestic investors.
Among the announced projects, the $4.9 billion Can Gio International Transshipment Port and the $6.61 billion International University Urban Area stand out as the largest. Both are expected to boost the city’s logistics capacity and attract students and researchers.
The World Economic Forum is cooperating with the city, linking it to global forums and offering support. This partnership reinforces Ho Chi Minh City’s aim to strengthen international partnerships and solidify its hub status.
In short, the $13 bn of new investment projects signals a major step toward Ho Chi Minh City’s ambition to be a regional economic centre. The scale of the projects and the WEF collaboration could reshape jobs, technology and the city’s global standing.
