South Korean group BigBang performed two concerts in Hanoi, drawing attention from both local and foreign fans. The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that the events generated an estimated VND750 billion (US$29 million) in tourism revenue. This demonstrates how a single cultural program can influence a city’s economy and reputation.
The two shows at My Dinh National Stadium attracted about 90,000 domestic and international spectators, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The crowds filled the stadium on both October 24 and 25.
On October 23‑24, Hanoi welcomed around 220,000 tourists, a 15.6% rise from the previous week, including roughly 67,900 international arrivals, the department said. The surge reflected strong demand for transportation, shopping, dining and accommodation.
Flight bookings to Hanoi on Trip.com rose 74% and searches for trips on Traveloka quadrupled, while occupancy at some three‑ to five‑star hotels reached 75‑100%, the department reported. These figures show how the concerts spurred travel and hospitality activity.
The department said the event promoted Hanoi as a safe, world‑class destination and proved that the city’s infrastructure can meet the stringent stage, sound and safety requirements of leading entertainment companies. The success suggests that major international shows can quickly raise tourism income and enhance Hanoi’s global image.
