Keppel Ltd. was selected as an inaugural member of the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC). This membership is notable because the VIFC is designed to attract international finance to Vietnam, making the news relevant for anyone following the country’s economic growth.
The VIFC was created under a National Assembly resolution in 2025 and operates with a dedicated legal framework. It allows foreign‑currency transactions, offers tax incentives for eligible projects, and provides international dispute‑resolution mechanisms, all aimed at encouraging foreign investors.
Keppel aims to mobilize up to US$1 billion from third‑party investors through co‑investment platforms, subject to market conditions, suitable opportunities and partner participation. If successful, this could bring a sizable amount of foreign capital into Vietnam’s real‑estate sector.
Joseph Low, Keppel’s Chief Representative for Vietnam and President of Vietnam Real Estate, said Keppel will work with government agencies, business partners and investors to channel international capital into Vietnam. Keppel entered Vietnam about four decades ago and now runs 30 real‑estate projects with registered capital exceeding S$5 billion (US$3.9 billion).
Keppel’s entry into the VIFC shows how a long‑standing foreign investor can use new financial structures to attract more overseas money. The potential flow of up to US$1 billion highlights why this membership matters for Vietnam’s broader economic development.
