At a recent Korea‑Vietnam Content Connects conference in Ho Chi Minh City, experts compared K‑pop’s business model with Vietnam’s growing music scene. Understanding how South Korean firms turn fan enthusiasm into multiple income streams can help Vietnamese companies create lasting profit.
South Korea’s music industry revenue rose 15.8% in 2025 and exports jumped 32.4%, according to the Korea Creative Content Agency. HYBE reported that merchandise and IP licensing made up 21.53% of its revenue, while live shows contributed 28.83%.
DatVietVAC Group Holdings, represented by Dinh Thi Nam Phuong, is creating entertainment properties such as Rap Viet and the TV show Anh trai say hi. Phuong said the company has organized many concerts, but making a profit from concerts alone is actually not easy.
According to Hwang Insung, an executive at the K‑pop fan platform bemyfriends, building a fan community before launching paid services—like memberships, exclusive content, and limited‑edition merchandise—can generate sustainable revenue. DatVietVAC also took the Anh trai say hi concert to Las Vegas in 2025 and plans a U.S. tour in November, showing a push to export Vietnamese entertainment.
