Nguyen Thi Ha’s journey shows how perseverance can reshape a career and lead to top academic honors. Readers will see how a bold decision, hard work and clever self‑financing turned a risky change into excellence.

After two years in a stable position at the provincial Cultural Center, Ha decided to leave that job and retake the university entrance exam. This choice reflected her deep desire to pursue formal training in traditional theatre despite her family’s concerns.

In 2022 Ha gained admission to the Department of Theater Actor at Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. To cover most of her living costs she sang at wedding receptions, and in 2023 she earned third prize in a folk music competition, which opened further performance opportunities.

Because Ha had no prior Cheo training, she began learning the art from scratch. She devoted countless hours to mastering demanding techniques such as the finger‑curling hand posture, practicing even while riding on a friend’s scooter to make her hands flexible enough for the stylized dance.

Graduating as the university’s overall valedictorian with a GPA of 8.57 out of 10, Ha proved that disciplined effort and self‑funded study can overcome financial and skill gaps. Her story illustrates that determination and smart work can transform a risky career shift into outstanding academic achievement.
