Vietnam’s shrimp exporters are facing new U.S. anti‑dumping duties, a development that could reshape their costs and market position. Understanding these changes is essential for companies and the farmers who supply them.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced final results for the 20th administrative review of anti‑dumping duties on frozen warmwater shrimp imported from Vietnam. The announcement details the duty rates that will apply to Vietnamese shrimp exports.

Sao Ta Foods’ duty rate was reduced from 10.76 % to 10.71 %, while Soc Trang Seafood’s rate rose from 6.30 % to 6.36 %. All other exporters are subject to a 7.59 % duty.

Sao Ta alleges the Department of Commerce used surrogate values for shrimp feed that were more than ten times the actual cost, which it says distorted the dumping margin calculations. Vietnam Clean Seafood Corporation now faces a 7.59 % duty, up from 4.84 %, and says the DOC applied juvenile shrimp feed prices to all feed used for market‑size shrimp.

Exporters say they will contest the new rates in U.S. courts. They intend to file cases with the U.S. Court of International Trade.

The higher duties could raise export costs and reduce competitiveness, putting pressure on both shrimp exporters and domestic farmers. Companies are preparing legal challenges to protect their market share.
