Airbus Maintenance Hub Could Bring Jobs and Training for Vietnamese Youth
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung urged Airbus to explore establishing aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities at Long Thanh and Gia Binh international airports. He raised the request during a meeting with Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch on November 4.
The Prime Minister noted that Vietnam’s population of more than 100 million, rising incomes and large infrastructure projects are creating strong demand for aviation development. These factors make a local maintenance hub especially valuable.
Hung also called on Airbus and Vietnamese partners to speed up technology transfer, expand research cooperation and train highly‑skilled personnel in aerospace. Such initiatives are aimed at building a skilled workforce for the sector.
Airbus currently operates 230 aircraft in Vietnam and expects another 220 to enter service in the near future, according to President van Wersch. The company said Vietnam is a top priority for long‑term growth and that it sees opportunities beyond aircraft sales, including partnerships and skill development.
If Airbus decides to build the hub, it could generate many technical jobs and provide specialised training for Vietnamese youth. The partnership would therefore help grow the country’s aviation industry while boosting employment prospects.
