AI Boom in Vietnam: What It Means for Students and Young Professionals

The e‑Conomy SEA 2026 report, released on October 21, projects Southeast Asia’s digital economy to reach $368 billion in 2026, a 17 % year‑on‑year rise, with artificial intelligence identified as a key growth driver. This overall expansion creates a larger online market where AI‑powered services can thrive.
The same report finds that about 57 % of Vietnam’s workforce has accessed generative AI within the past three years. Moreover, 65 % of Vietnamese GenAI users open AI applications at least once a week, and 26 % do so every day – the second‑highest weekly rate and the highest daily rate in the region.
On Google’s Gemini platform, educational queries represent 17 % of all prompts in Vietnam, with mathematics accounting for 5 % and programming for 4 %. The report also notes that 80‑85 % of AI usage traffic in the country comes from individual consumers such as students, office workers and freelancers, highlighting AI’s role as a learning and productivity tool.
In short, AI is already a routine part of many Vietnamese youths’ study habits and work tasks. As usage continues to grow, students and young professionals can expect even more AI‑driven resources to shape how they learn and earn.
