Windows license prices may rise, making PCs cost more

Microsoft usually raises its Windows license fees a little each year. But this time, the increases are much higher than usual.
In the past, license fees went up by small amounts each year. But now, they have increased by 7 to 10 percent since July. The increases vary by processor type.
These changes are already affecting PC prices. Most Windows laptops and desktops come with their operating systems pre-installed. But the price for individual Windows 11 licenses has not changed.
Microsoft said it has no comment on this issue.
If the report is true, PC makers are facing big financial challenges. There is a shortage of computer parts like RAM and SSD storage chips, causing laptop prices to rise. This crisis may get worse later this year and next.
