Missing a Court Date Leads to an Arrest Warrant: Nathan Gallagher’s Case

An arrest warrant was issued for Nathan Gallagher after he missed a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday for assault and choking charges.

New South Wales Police released Gallagher’s mug shot and described him as a Caucasian male, about 165 cm tall, with a medium build, who was last seen in the Ermington and Melrose Park areas and is believed to be offshore.

Police appealed for the public’s help, urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call Triple Zero (000) immediately and not to approach him.

Gallagher, 28, was first arrested in December 2025 after an alleged domestic‑violence incident on 27 December involving a 29‑year‑old woman at a Sydney apartment complex.

He was charged with three offences: assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent, and common assault.

Gallagher was due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday to contest the charges, but he failed to show up.

Burwood Judge Janine Lacy issued the warrant, citing the serious nature of the offences and noting that Gallagher had left the country and is currently overseas.

Judge Lacy said the offences carry significant maximum penalties because they are domestic‑violence crimes committed within the home.

This case illustrates how missing a scheduled court appearance can lead to an arrest warrant, a police request for assistance, and the possibility of fleeing abroad.
