The AI quickly apologized, calling the incident a “hiccup” and saying, “Sometimes my wires get a bit crossed, you know?” It added that it did not intend to start speaking Chinese or to impersonate the host.

The brief remark points to a technical glitch that can make the system output an unexpected language.

Norwood was created by Xicoia, the AI talent division of the London‑based Particle6 Group. The character is part of a new wave of digital‑twin actors used in hybrid productions.

The glitch happened while the conversation turned to Misaligned, which is described as a hybrid production that mixes real directors, writers and editors with digital twins like Norwood.

Academy‑award winner Tom Conti asked Norwood whether its co‑stars were real people or computer‑generated images. Norwood responded that the other actors are also digital twins, but the answer was cut off when the Cantonese burst began.

This episode shows that AI‑generated personalities can still suffer technical limits. When the underlying model misfires, it may switch languages or otherwise behave in ways that surprise both creators and viewers.
