Woman Sues Chipotle After Getting Salmonella

A woman from Minnesota is suing Chipotle because she got salmonella from a burrito bowl and had to go to the hospital.

The woman, Kristen Behne, filed a lawsuit saying Chipotle gave her salmonella-contaminated jalapeno peppers. Many people have gotten sick from these peppers.

Behne ate the burrito bowl on June 24 and got very sick three days later. She had to go to the hospital with a bad infection.

Behne started feeling sick about 76 hours after eating the burrito bowl. She felt dizzy and lost consciousness.

Behne had a fever, chills, and stomach pain. Her temperature was very high.

On June 28, Behne went to the hospital. She had a high fever and fast heart rate.

Behne was in the hospital for three days. She was diagnosed with sepsis, which is a serious infection.

Behne is still not feeling well after getting sick. She is still experiencing problems from the salmonella infection.

The lawsuit says that Chipotle is responsible for Behne's illness. She had to go to the hospital and lost money because she couldn't work.

The lawsuit says that Behne did nothing wrong. She trusted Chipotle to give her safe food.

Genetic testing showed that Behne's infection was linked to the current salmonella outbreak.

The lawsuit says that Chipotle knew its food safety systems were not good enough. This is not the first time Chipotle has had a problem with food safety.

Behne is asking for $75,000 in damages.

Global News tried to contact Chipotle, but they did not respond.

The CDC told businesses to check their inventory for the recalled jalapeno peppers.

The jalapeno peppers were supplied by a company in California and came from Mexico.
