On Thursday, Rachel Griffin Accurso – known online as Ms. Rachel – used her Instagram platform to say she will match Macklemore’s $1 million contribution to Palestinian charities and explicitly invited every wealthy White celebrity to follow her lead.

Macklemore’s pledge, revealed in a separate Instagram post, earmarks the earnings from his Loop Tour for six organisations: the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, the UNRWA USA National Committee and American Near East Refugee Aid.

Accurso justified her appeal by citing the reported death of more than 20,000 Palestinian children, arguing that the silence of White celebrities amounts to a racist double standard. She warned that if a comparable number of White children were killed elsewhere, the outcry would be immediate and universal.

The controversy surrounding celebrity activism intensified after the 43‑year‑old rapper was removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour for repeatedly demanding a “Free Palestine” and performing an anti‑Israel song. In response, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told Macklemore he had already pledged $2 million to Palestinian aid, underscoring the growing pressure on high‑profile figures to take a public stance.

Ms. Rachel’s call reflects a belief that those with substantial platforms and financial resources have a moral obligation to amplify the plight of Gaza’s children, turning personal conviction into a broader demand for collective celebrity action.
