Tampa Bay Rays Put Shane McClanahan on Injured List

The Rays called up Alex Cook from the minor leagues to take McClanahan's place. Cook has not pitched in the major leagues yet. He has done well in the minor leagues, with a 3.78 ERA. Cook will help the team's bullpen. He will not take McClanahan's spot as a starter.

McClanahan got hurt after not pitching for the Rays since 2023. He had surgery in 2023 and missed the 2024 season. Before the 2025 season, he had more problems with his arm.

This season, McClanahan has a 3.09 ERA and a 9-6 record. He has pitched 99 innings. McClanahan has a 3.04 ERA in his career.

The Rays might trade for another pitcher because McClanahan is hurt. They are talking about trading for Tarik Skubal or Freddy Peralta. The trade deadline is August 3.
