Hockey Canada Suspends 4 Players from 2018 Junior Team

Hockey Canada said four players from the 2018 world junior team will stay suspended.

The appeal board said all five players broke Hockey Canada's rules. But one player, Alex Formenton, can play again now.

Cal Foote is suspended until November 10 this year. Carter Hart is suspended until November 10, 2027. Dillon Dube is suspended until November 10, 2028.

Michael McLeod is suspended the longest, until November 10, 2030.

Hockey Canada did not say why each player got a different suspension.

Hockey Canada thanked the people who helped with the investigation and the appeal process.

No other players from the 2018 team broke the rules, so they can play in Hockey Canada programs.

Any player who wants to play for a national team will have to go through a special screening process.

All five players were allowed to play in the NHL again after they were found not guilty.

Formenton plays in the Swiss National League. The other four players were charged with sexual assault in 2024.

The players were accused of assaulting a woman in a hotel room in 2018. They all said they were not guilty.

Hart plays for the Vegas Golden Knights now. Dube signed with the St. Louis Blues in July.

Foote was signed by a Swedish team, but they changed their mind after people complained.

McLeod plays for a Russian team in the Kontinental Hockey League.
