Why the NFL Is Filling Every Day with Games and Expanding Worldwide

The 2026‑27 season kicks off on a Wednesday, when the Seattle Seahawks host the New England Patriots at 8:20 p.m. ET.

This year the league will have games on every day except Tuesday. Thursday nights have been part of the schedule since 2006, a Black Friday matchup was added in 2023, and a Thanksgiving‑Eve game is set for Nov 25 with the Rams playing the Packers.

A record nine regular‑season games will be played outside the United States, spread across seven countries. Paris hosts for the first time, joining Melbourne, London, Madrid, Munich, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.
