Emmy Awards Snub Dropout

Dropout fans thought this was a good strategy. Very Important People is a funny show where Vic Michaelis plays a version of themselves and welcomes surprise guests.

The makeup on Very Important People was very good, but it did not get nominated. Instead, shows like Dancing with the Stars and Saturday Night Live got nominated.

The Emmy nominations for Outstanding Variety Series went to traditional comedy shows like The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live. There was no room for new voices like Dropout.

The Outstanding Game Show nominees were all legacy shows like Celebrity Family Feud and Jeopardy!

The nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series were all from traditional comedy shows. None of them were from Dropout.

The nominees for Outstanding Host for a Game Show were all from traditional game shows. None of them were from Dropout's Game Changer.

Sam Reich talked to Mashable about the challenge of picking episodes to submit for Emmy nominations.

Reich said that they chose a episode called 'Rulette' because it was funny and introduced the show well. It was also traditional enough for Emmy voters to understand.

There was a debate about where to submit Very Important People because it does not fit perfectly into any category.

As Dropout grows, it will likely get Emmy nominations eventually. Some progress has been made, like Kareem Rahma's nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy.

It took years for the Emmys to recognize streaming studios like Netflix. Now, indie streamers like Dropout are facing the same challenge.
