AEW All In 2026: A Simple Guide for Non‑Fans

Even though it is newer than some other groups, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is seen as one of the top places to watch pro wrestling in the U.S. and around the globe. This is why AEW says it is “Where the best wrestle.”

Because of that, AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In, is a must‑watch event. It ends the storylines that have built up on the weekly shows AEW Dynamite and Collision and highlights the company’s future stars. Unlike WWE, which has decades of its own story history, AEW does not have a long‑standing storyline library. Its roster includes many wrestlers who have spent years on independent promotions, and those past ties often appear in AEW storylines.

That can make some storylines hard to follow. If you never saw CHIKARA in the late 2010s, you might not understand why Eddie Kingston really hates Claudio Castagnoli (formerly known as Cesaro in WWE). The company is now seven years old, so the problem is less common, but people who are new to wrestling or only know WWE may find it difficult to care about AEW’s athletes and unique characters.

That is why this guide exists. I have written similar guides for WrestleMania before, but because of WWE’s recent business and moral choices, those guides are currently on hold.

If you are curious about the new talent or your friend is urging you to watch, the next sections give everything you need to know about the All In show on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. EST. It will be live on pay‑per‑view via HBO Max, Prime Video, and other platforms.

All Elite Wrestling is the world’s second‑largest pro‑wrestling company. It was created in 2019 by Tony Khan and wrestlers Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and the Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson). Before AEW, they wrestled on independent shows, especially in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, as part of a subgroup called The Elite inside the Bullet Club.

The idea for the company began with a 2017 tweet from wrestling historian Dave Meltzer, who said ROH could not sell a 10,000‑seat arena show in the U.S.—something no non‑WWE promotion had done. The response was the 2018 All In event, organized by Rhodes and the Bucks with ROH. The show sold out 11,263 seats and attracted about 50,000 buys, proving there was demand for non‑WWE wrestling in America.

TV executives noticed All In’s success, and the Elite teamed up with longtime fan Tony Khan, whose father owns the Jacksonville Jaguars. This partnership created All Elite Wrestling and its first pay‑per‑view, Double or Nothing, in May 2019. Later, AEW signed a TV deal with WarnerMedia, marking Warner’s first wrestling venture since WCW closed in 2001.

Seven years later, AEW is now one of the world’s biggest wrestling companies. Because the first All In was co‑promoted with ROH, Sinclair Broadcast Group owned the All In trademark at first. In 2021, Khan bought ROH from Sinclair, taking the trademark for AEW and using ROH as a development brand. The 2023 All In is the second event of its name and the biggest show on AEW’s calendar.

AEW’s style and philosophy differ from WWE’s. The biggest difference is the pacing and intensity of matches, which vary by wrestler—some prefer brawling, others strong‑style, PWG, or lucha libre. AEW offers a wide mix of wrestling styles, like a buffet of different traditions.

WWE, by contrast, uses a slower, more uniform style that blends many wrestling forms and focuses on big moments while protecting its talent from the grueling travel schedule.

AEW also emphasizes groups called factions or stables. Almost every wrestler belongs to a larger group that is split across the company’s divisions. There are about 21 factions, with the most notable being The Don Callis Family, The Death Riders, Bullet Club Gold, and The Conglomeration. These groups create most of the rivalries and feuds throughout the year, turning one wrestler’s issue into a larger conflict.

In the men’s division, AEW has five singles titles: the AEW World Championship, International, Continental, National, and TNT titles. There is also a World Trios Championship (for three‑person teams) and a Men’s World Tag‑Team Championship. The women’s division includes the Women’s World Championship, the TBS title, and a Women’s World Tag‑Team Championship.

AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In: London, will happen on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Wembley Stadium in London. The event starts at 6 p.m. BST / 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

U.S. viewers can stream the show on HBO Max for $39.99. It is also available for $49.99 on Prime Video (U.S., Canada, and select countries such as France, Germany, and the UK), DAZN (in more than 180 countries), PPV.com, and YouTube.

Fans in Canada and other countries can also buy the show through MyAEW.com for $49.99.

The AEW Men’s World Championship will be defended as Will Ospreay faces Kenny Omega. The match is more about pride than the title. Casual viewers may recognize Ospreay from a viral 2016 video with Ricochet at the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

The two first met in 2023 at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 for the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship. That match was presented as Omega’s homecoming after leaving New Japan to start AEW. Omega felt Ospreay was not a worthy replacement, while Ospreay argued he stayed and deserved the spot. Omega won decisively, showing Ospreay was not ready yet.

Later that year, Ospreay got revenge at Forbidden Door, AEW’s joint event with New Japan. He won the US title with help from Don Callis, who in the storyline had swapped Omega for Ospreay in the Callis family. The win still proved to Omega that Ospreay could not beat him alone.

Now, years later, Ospreay has split from Callis, suffered a serious neck injury, and begun a personal journey because he feels he cannot meet the expectations placed on him. Omega, now the AEW champion, is older and near the end of his career, but he still wants to keep the title, especially against Ospreay, who has spent years trying to prove he is better.

That is the core of this year’s long feud. Can Ospreay, who has lost several big matches, finally have his moment, especially in his home country? If Omega decides, the answer is likely “no.”

The co‑main event will be a match for the AEW Women’s World Championship, with Willow Nightingale defending against Mercedes Moné (formerly Sasha Banks in WWE).

Willow is newer to the scene, debuting in 2015, while Moné started in 2010. Willow, known as the “world’s happiest nihilist,” rose from the YouTube show Dark Elevation during the pandemic to become World Champion, winning multiple titles, including the first AEW Women’s Tag‑Team Championship with Harley Cameron and becoming the company’s first female Triple Crown winner.

Moné has a far larger résumé, having held 13 championships across many promotions after leaving WWE. She later lost those belts and took a break following a crash that ended her title run.

When she returned, Moné won the Owen Hart Cup for the second straight year, earning a championship match at All In against Willow. Moné has wanted the AEW Women’s World title since joining the company and feels Willow has blocked her path to major success.

Willow and Moné first met in the main event of NJPW Resurgence in 2023 for the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. The plan was for Moné to win, but an in‑match injury forced an audible, and Willow won instead. That unexpected victory boosted Willow’s career and helped her win the Owen Hart Cup later that year.

Moné says that without her, Willow would not exist. In AEW they are tied 1‑1, and All In will be the deciding match to show who is the better wrestler.

You can see that AEW loves the story of a young rising star versus a proven legend.

The three men in this storyline—Kyle Fletcher (champion), Kazuchika Okada, and Konosuke Takeshita—were all once part of the Don Callis Family. Fletcher was the up‑and‑coming star, Takeshita was the top star for a time, and Okada, a huge star in Japan, later joined the group, earning the nickname “The Rainmaker.”

This created a long‑standing rivalry. Takeshita resented Okada’s lack of respect, while Okada feared that “The Alpha” (Okada) would lose his top spot in Japan. Fletcher, a close friend of Takeshita and loyal to the Callis Family, was caught in the middle. At this year’s Double or Nothing, Takeshita finally beat Okada for the International title. Fletcher chose the family over Takeshita, staying loyal even though he is not Okada’s biggest fan.

Fletcher later beat Takeshita for the title on AEW Dynamite: Beach Break. After losing, Takeshita returned to Japan to compete in the G1 Climax tournament. Meanwhile, Okada began to disrespect Fletcher, increasing tension within the group.

All of this will end in a three‑way title match at All In, arranged by Don Callis, who added Okada to the bout despite Fletcher’s objections. Callis believes having two family members in the match will help the group keep the title. Fletcher now must decide whether to help his family or fight for himself.

For Takeshita, this match is a chance to win back the International title, get revenge, and earn bragging rights over his former teammates.

The co‑main events are packed with years of storyline, but the rest of the card is also exciting.

First, “The Jet” Kevin Knight will defend his TNT title against Darby Allin in a Falls‑Count‑Anywhere match. Allin wants revenge after Knight attacked him at Double or Nothing following Allin’s loss of the Men’s World Championship to MJF. Knight’s attack was personal, and he later joined the Callis Family.

Knight says that gaining a “darker edge” will help him rise to the top. Allin simply wants to humble the arrogant newcomer.

Next is a dream tag‑team match for the Men’s World Tag‑Team titles. Christian Cage and Adam Copeland (known as Edge and Christian in WWE) will defend against The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson). The two are tag‑team legends from their WWE days, later split, and eventually reunited in AEW after being told they could not wrestle again. Christian felt he lived in Copeland’s shadow, but together they won the AEW Tag‑Team titles in May and have kept them since.

Now they face The Young Bucks, a celebrated tag team who want to beat Cage and Copeland to cement their own legacy as one of the greatest teams ever.

Big matches also start new feuds. An example is the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match, one of several “Casino”‑themed bouts (including a ladder match and a battle royale). AEW called itself the “ultimate gamble” in wrestling, which is why its first major event was named Double or Nothing, a gamble after All In’s success.

The Casino Gauntlet is a 21‑person match where wrestlers enter one at a time until the ring is full or someone pins. The match could end before all participants enter, making the entry spot very important. It also allows surprise returns and debuts. The winner receives a future title shot at a time of their choosing within a week. At All In, AEW National Champion Andrade El Ídolo and three‑time Men’s World Champion MJF will start from spots #1 and #2.

In addition to the Gauntlet, the Continental Cup Challenge (C3) final will happen. C3 is a new 16‑person single‑elimination tournament that awards the Continental Championship. AEW says C3 is like England’s FA Cup, a prestigious mid‑season soccer tournament. The winner will defend the Continental title and may also compete for the Continental Classic, a round‑robin tournament held in November‑December. The belt has been combined with the International title before, making its history a bit confusing.

After the final Dynamite episode, Death Riders leader and current Continental Champion Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE) and Nigel McGuinness won their semi‑final matches and will meet at Wembley. A win would show that many mid‑card AEW wrestlers are still below Moxley’s level, while for McGuinness it would be a major triumph after years of injury and a shift to commentary work.

The AEW Women’s Tag‑Team Championship will be contested between champions Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) and The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jaime Hayter).

The build‑up to this match has been largely ignored, a common problem for the women’s division in both AEW and WWE. Divine Dominion dominates the division and wants to embarrass the Birds on their home turf. The Brawling Birds simply want to defeat Divine Dominion.

AEW All In: London takes place Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Wembley Stadium in London.
