Thailand Invests in Wellness Tourism

Thailand's Minister of Public Health announced a plan to grow the country's medical and wellness sector.

The 2026 Global Wellness Summit will be held in Phuket from Nov. 10-13. It will have over 600 participants. The event is in its 20th year.

The summit is expected to bring in at least 300 million baht.

The global wellness economy will grow 7.6% each year from 2024 to 2029. It was $6.8 trillion in 2024 and will be $9.8 trillion in 2029.

The wellness market is growing due to older people and more chronic diseases. Asia is the fastest-growing wellness market, with $2 trillion. It had 563 million wellness trips in 2024.

Thailand's wellness sector is recovering after the pandemic. It made $41.7 billion in 2019, $31 billion in 2020, $39 billion in 2023, and $43 billion in 2024.
