Vietnam to Start New Tourist Train from Hue to Phong Nha

Vietnam's Quang Tri province is working with Vietnam Railways to finish a new train project. It will connect big heritage sites and nice places in the north-central area.

The train will go about 190 km, stopping at Hue, Dong Ha, My Trach, Dong Hoi, and Tho Loc. The trip will take around four hours and 30 minutes. Tickets will start at VND360,000 per person.

The train will have seven cars and offer a fun travel experience. It will show regional culture, local food, and traditional art.

A new train from Hue to Phong Nha will open on September 1, 2026. It will have 56 seats.

The train route will let visitors see many famous places like the Complex of Hue Monuments and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. This park is home to the world's largest cave, Son Doong.

Recently, the Vietnam Railways Corporation and the Quang Tri provincial People's Committee met. They said the project is a good idea and will help the region's tourism.

The train will have a special identity with colors and images from the region. The inside of the train will show the cultural heritage and nice places along the way.

They also suggested having competitive ticket prices and travel packages. These packages will include accommodation, sightseeing, and shuttle services.

Vice Chairman Hoang Xuan Tan said the project is part of the region's tourism plan. It will help use the railway infrastructure and promote the value of cultural heritage and natural attractions.

He asked the relevant agencies to work closely with the Vietnam Railways Corporation to finish the project on time.

Tan also said they need to improve transport to tourist attractions, develop special tourism products, and work with travel agencies and accommodation providers.

The Hue-Phong Nha tourist train will be a special tourism product. It will make Quang Tri and the north-central region more attractive and competitive.
