Joy Nguyen, born in 1986 and originally from Ho Chi Minh City, moved to Australia with her husband after marrying seven years ago. She now works as an hourly housekeeper in Sydney, a role that requires no formal degree but demands great attention to detail.

When she first started, Joy charged 20 AUD per hour. As she learned to estimate cleaning times accurately and to use the right chemicals, she raised her rate to 60 AUD per hour. This price increase reflects the higher quality and efficiency she now offers.

Joy follows a systematic workflow: she cleans bathrooms first, then moves to the kitchen, and finishes with vacuuming and mopping. For stubborn grease, she applies a specialised solution with a damp cloth and circular motions. Calcium deposits on shower glass are treated with a descaling agent, and mold‑affected grout receives a meticulous routine.

Her day runs from 9:30 am to 2 pm, allowing her to complete each job in three to five hours. By accepting only one client per day, she can maintain high standards and give personal attention, which has helped her keep 10 to 15 loyal clients for many years.

Joy works from 9:30 am to 2 pm, handling each job in three to five hours.

With this stable client base, Joy now earns between AUD5,000 and AUD6,000 a month (about VND94‑112 million). Her story shows that even a low‑skill job can become a well‑paid career when you invest in skill upgrades, efficient workflows and consistent client service.
