Sixteen Vietnamese students have been awarded New Zealand government scholarships for the 2026 academic year. The news is important because two of the students received a record‑high combined scholarship.
Nguyen Minh Khoi and Nguyen Hoang Lam each secured a combined scholarship worth NZ$65,000 (about US$36,500), according to Education New Zealand (ENZ). This amount is the highest total scholarship value given by the NZUA program so far.
The NZUA program, launched in 2025, is open exclusively to Vietnamese students and is run by ENZ together with New Zealand universities. This year the program includes five NZUA awards for undergraduate study and eleven NZSS awards for high‑school education.
The record NZ$65,000 combined scholarship shows the highest value the NZUA program has offered to any recipient. It highlights the significant support available for Vietnamese students who want to study in New Zealand.
