Phu Quoc island saw a big rise in visitors in 2026. In the first ten months the island had 9.2 million tourist arrivals, which is 30 % more than the same period last year.

The island had planned to receive 8.5 million tourists for the whole year, including 2 million foreign visitors. The actual 9.2 million shows the island is already above its goal.

Investments in tourism infrastructure and new activities have made Phu Quoc more attractive. Visitors can enjoy more beaches, tours and services, which adds to the island’s appeal.

Air connectivity improved a lot. Direct routes now link the island with South Korea, Taiwan, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. More than 370 tourists arrived on the first direct flight from Russia on Sept 27, and a tour operator expects about 15 000 Russian visitors each month. Sun PhuQuoc Airways also opened bookings for a direct Phu Quoc–Ahmedabad flight that will start on Dec 2, 2026, with five flights each week.

The data show that better infrastructure and more flight connections can quickly raise tourist numbers. Phu Quoc’s 2026 boom is a clear example of this effect.
