Ho Chi Minh City is building two new pedestrian bridges over Ton Duc Thang Street. They will help people cross the busy road safely and reach the riverside park more easily.
Both bridges will be six meters wide, made of steel, and will have elevators and decorative lighting. They will link Ton Duc Thang Street to Bach Dang Wharf and the Saigon River park, so visitors can walk across the street without traffic danger.
Great Wealth Trading and Services Co. Ltd. will fund the whole project under a build‑transfer contract. The company will pay for construction, management and operation, and in exchange it can put up billboards and LED screens and will improve piers B and C with landscaping and visitor facilities.
The bridges were meant to be finished by April 30 this year, but they were delayed because of some procedures. When they open, residents and tourists will have a safer, more convenient way to enjoy the riverfront.
