Thai women are the third most common foreign brides of South Korean men. This shows how multicultural marriage patterns are changing in South Korea.

Yonhap reported Thursday, citing data from South Korea's Data and Statistics Ministry, that about 1,400 Thai women married South Korean men last year, out of 15,300 foreign brides. The same report said Vietnamese women made up 25.3% of foreign brides and Chinese women 15.1%.

The Bangkok Post said South Korea registered 21,399 multicultural marriages in 2025, a 0.2% decline from the year before. According to the data, marriages between South Korean men and foreign women were 71.4% of all multicultural unions, while unions with foreign husbands were 18.9% and those with naturalized citizens were 9.7%.

The data also showed the average age at first marriage was 37.1 years for husbands and 29.7 years for wives. In 75.2% of multicultural marriages, husbands were older than wives, and in 36.1% of the couples the age gap was at least 10 years.
