Tan Su Shan topped the annual ranking of 100 women CEOs, chairs, C‑suite leaders and founders across 14 Asian markets, earning the title of Asia’s most powerful businesswoman for the second consecutive year.
In 2025 she became the first woman to lead DBS, Southeast Asia’s largest bank by assets, succeeding Piyush Gupta, who had served as CEO for 15 years.
Before becoming CEO, Tan headed DBS’s consumer banking, wealth management and institutional banking divisions, which together generated roughly 90% of the bank’s revenue, according to The Business Times.
DBS reported a record‑high total income of S$22.9 billion and profit before tax of S$13.1 billion for 2025, and earnings kept growing in the first half of 2026. The bank also became the first Singaporean company to exceed a market value of S$200 billion in July 2025.
Tan was Singapore’s third‑highest‑paid bank CEO in 2025, receiving total remuneration of S$9.6 million, as noted by fintech news site Fintech Singapore. The amount includes pay for her time as deputy CEO before she assumed the CEO role on March 28, 2025.
She also placed sixth on Fortune’s 2026 "Most Powerful Women in Business" list, which evaluates leaders on organisational scale, performance, career trajectory, influence, innovation and broader societal impact. Her repeated recognition adds to the visibility of women in senior corporate positions across Asia.
