Dapur Hassan, a food stall run by former Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny, served nasi padang, nasi lemak and lontong on Tampines Street 12. It opened in 2020 and served its final customers on 4 October 2024.
In an Instagram video, Hassan thanked visitors and said the stall would pause before returning as a Grab delivery service. He explained that the closure was not permanent.
The main reason, he told Channel News Asia, was a shortage of staff. His mother‑in‑law, who prepared the nasi padang dishes, is now physically unable to continue, and finding suitable employees has proved difficult.
Hassan wants his mother‑in‑law to rest, so he is learning her recipes himself. He hopes to keep the Dapur Hassan brand alive by offering the same dishes through Grab delivery.
The stall had attracted attention in 2024 when Chinese football fans visited after a World Cup qualifier, and even Singapore’s president dined there. Despite that fame, practical challenges forced the shutdown.
