The annual Readers' Choice Awards placed Indonesia at 8th, Thailand at 10th, Vietnam at 14th and Cambodia at 16th among the world’s most loved travel spots.
The survey asks travelers to rate each country on culture, attractions, cuisine and overall experience, and it is selected by over 800,000 readers, making it the longest‑running honor in the travel industry.
Indonesia’s high rank reflects the draw of Bali’s mix of jungle retreats, backpacker scenes and beach clubs, as well as the growing interest in the rest of the archipelago beyond the crowded hotspots.
Thailand’s enduring popularity stems from its diverse landscapes and relatively easy transport connections – trains, domestic flights, boats and overnight buses let visitors move smoothly between night markets, islands and mountains.
Vietnam’s rise to 14th is linked to a record 21.2 million international visitors in 2025 and to improved air connections that have opened previously hard‑to‑reach destinations, turning the country into a regular stop on travelers’ itineraries.
Cambodia, known worldwide for Angkor Wat, also offers lively markets in Phnom Penh, remote Cardamom Mountains and pristine beaches, giving it a broader appeal that helped secure the 16th spot.
