The People’s Association (PA) announced that, from November 2026, it will launch a series of bite‑sized AI courses called “AI @ Your Neighbourhood” in community clubs island‑wide. Each session costs S$10, but a 30 % discount will lower the fee to S$7 until October 2027.

The programme is designed for residents who are not familiar with artificial intelligence, especially seniors and homemakers. PA says the courses will help participants understand AI, build confidence in using everyday AI tools, and use them safely and responsibly.

To date, PA has curated 25 beginner‑friendly courses covering topics such as everyday digital life skills, photography and photo enhancement, and how AI can make travel planning easier. More modules will be added as AI technology evolves and residents’ interests change.

PA aims to reach 10,000 residents through the initiative, making AI learning accessible to a broad cross‑section of the community.

The effort is supported by partners AI Singapore, Micron Technology and NTUC LearningHub, which will help deliver the workshops and keep the content up‑to‑date.

In addition to the classes, PA will introduce an AI Voice Assistant on the onePA portal by early 2027 and pilot a Community Robot in the first quarter of 2027. Both tools are intended to help residents find programmes, navigate centres and interact with staff more easily.

Ms Peggy Ong, an 82‑year‑old retiree, said the travel course was short, convenient and explained AI in a simple way that she and her friend found useful.

PA Deputy Chairman Edwin Tong – who is also Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs – explained that AI is already changing how residents receive information, discover opportunities and connect with one another. He urged grassroots leaders and volunteers to use AI to reduce manual work, allowing them to focus on human connection, empathy and care.
