The survey, run by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, asked more than 798,867 readers to rate islands, hotels and other travel experiences.

Boracay earned 94.6 points out of 100, putting it in second place after Phu Quoc, which scored 95.26 points.

The island is small – about 10 square kilometres – and lies more than 300 km south of Manila in the Philippines.

In the ranking of the “10 most beautiful islands in Asia,” Boracay appears at number 2, following Phu Quoc and ahead of places like Palawan and Langkawi.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are known for honoring excellence in hotels, resorts and destinations around the world.
