The Cobb County Police Department confirmed that the accident occurred at Six Flags Over Georgia, roughly 24 km north‑west of Atlanta. Police reports state that one rider was killed and several others suffered injuries, though the exact cause has not yet been disclosed.
A Six Flags spokesperson said that park staff and local emergency services responded immediately, and that the company is fully cooperating with the investigation led by detectives from the department’s major crimes unit.
Local television footage identified the ride as Goliath, a steel coaster that opened in 2006. The park’s website notes that Goliath can reach 113 km/h and climb to a height of 61 m, delivering about three and a half minutes of high‑speed turns and hills.
The fatality marks at least the seventh death recorded at the Georgia location, including a 2006 incident on the same coaster in which a rider likely suffered a heart attack, according to the Doan Law Firm. The pattern of accidents underscores the importance of rigorous safety checks and transparent investigations.
