Mitte died on Monday in Brownsville, Texas; his representative confirmed his age as 34 and said the cause of death was not disclosed.
He was best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr., the son of drug‑kingpin Walter White, on the acclaimed series *Breaking Bad*.
Mitte, who lived with cerebral palsy, said the character’s description—‘dark hair, big eyebrows and mild cerebral palsy’—matched his own experience, and he credited the role as his career breakthrough, telling the ABC in 2015.
Beyond acting, he used his platform for advocacy: he served as a celebrity spokesperson for Shriners Hospitals for Children’s anti‑bullying campaign ‘Cut the Bull’, as a Screen Actors Guild spokesman for performers with disabilities, and as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy.
His representative, Sean Reilly, noted that Mitte founded The Mitte Foundation, where he worked to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities.
Mitte’s authentic on‑screen presence showed audiences that disability can be portrayed realistically, helping to raise public awareness, influence advocacy efforts, and encourage more inclusive storytelling in media.
