Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street, about 400 meters long, has just been named a ceramics shopping street by the city authorities. This new title is meant to bring more visitors to the old market area.
The street is home to 17 long‑established shops. Many of them have been open for more than 20 years and they sell bowls, plates, tea sets and other kinds of ceramics.
The city’s initiative wants to attract more customers, revive the decades‑old trading hub and keep its traditional character. New rules also ask shops to show their prices publicly and to keep product quality, and the ward authorities will check that they follow the rules.
Tran Thi Oanh, a merchant who has sold ceramics for 40 years, says the official recognition will help revive her business after years of fewer customers. She hopes the street will become busy again.
The official designation and the new rules show how a city can help a traditional market survive. If the street follows the rules, it may attract more shoppers and keep the ceramics trade alive.
