A family in Ninh Binh Province started to build a new house and found something surprising. While digging the foundation, they uncovered about 20 ceramic jars that are thought to be from the 13th‑14th‑century Tran Dynasty. The find shows how everyday work can reveal hidden history.
The jars were discovered in a small area of about three square metres. They were placed upside down and stacked on each other, which suggests they were used for storage. The homeowner stopped the work and told local authorities.
Deputy director Hoang Van Cuong of Ninh Binh Museum confirmed the jars are from the Tran Dynasty. He said the museum documented the roughly 20 relatively intact jars. The museum sent staff to the site and began safe excavation procedures.
This discovery reminds us that modern construction can uncover ancient objects and connect us to the past. Even a simple house project can bring history to life.
