From Monday to Wednesday, Ho Chi Minh City and the rest of southern Vietnam may see more showers and thunderstorms. Heavy downpours and high tides could raise flood risk in low‑lying neighborhoods, so the forecast is important for daily plans.
The National Center for Hydro‑Meteorological Forecasting says rain will be 10‑30 mm, with some places over 60 mm. Later, rain may be 20‑40 mm and a few spots could exceed 80 mm. Monitoring stations already measured more than 100 mm between Sunday evening and Monday morning.
Thunderstorms could bring whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts. These may damage crops, trees, homes and transport facilities. Localised downpours could also cause flash floods, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low‑lying areas.
The combination of rain and high tides may cause deeper flooding, especially during evening and early‑morning commutes. High tides are forecast to be high early to midweek. This could disrupt daily activities and travel, so residents should be careful on flooded streets and watch weather and tide updates.
