Khủng hoảng nhà ở tại Việt Nam: Vì sao nhiều công nhân không đủ tiền mua nhà?

Housing affordability is becoming a daily concern for many Vietnamese families. Understanding why home ownership is slipping out of reach helps readers see how the issue affects their own finances and future plans.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc said housing remains unaffordable for most Vietnamese, including workers and some civil servants. He highlighted that home prices are beyond the financial reach of factory workers, wage earners and even some government officials. This makes buying or renting a home increasingly difficult for ordinary people.
Only about 47,000 of the targeted 97,000 social‑housing units for 2026 were completed in the first nine months, roughly 48% of the plan, according to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc. The shortfall leaves many families waiting for affordable homes.
Unsold property inventories rose to roughly 51,950 housing units and land plots in the third quarter of 2026. Market liquidity is weak, with transactions concentrated in projects that have completed legal procedures and are in favorable areas, limiting the market’s ability to absorb the excess supply.
The combination of slow social‑housing construction, high home prices and weak market liquidity means ordinary Vietnamese are finding it harder to secure a home. Addressing these gaps will be crucial for improving living standards across the country.
