How to Travel Safely to Coc Sam Grassland
Cách du lịch an toàn đến Cốc San

The family of Dinh Ngoc Huy drove about 300 km from Hanoi to Coc Sam, a six‑hour journey, and camped for two nights. Their experience shows what planning is needed for a remote camping trip.
Huy said the newly built concrete road to the summit is narrow, only wide enough for one car, and a wheel can slip off, sometimes needing a rescue vehicle. After the concrete road, an earthen slope requires a high‑clearance vehicle. Huy advised visitors to leave their cars at the foot and hire local motorbike guides.
Huy’s family brought about 50 liters of clean water; other families took 100‑150 liters. This shows the need to carry enough water because there are no services.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Coc Sam grassland covers about 10 hectares and sits at an elevation of about 900 m. It is known for gentle grassy hills, fresh air and cool climate, making it a popular spot for camping.
