Vietnam and Australia signed a memorandum of understanding on August 10, 2026 at the University of Technology Sydney. The agreement aims to strengthen links between the two countries’ technology, investment and innovation ecosystems.

The Vietnam‑Australia forum on digital technology and AI was held in Hanoi on October 12. Organized by the Department of Digital Technology and AI and the Vietnam‑Australia Scholars and Experts Association, the meeting focused on practical projects, technology transfer, investment and workforce development.

A key outcome of the forum was the launch of V‑bridge, a platform created by the Department of Digital Technology and AI, FPT Group and VASEA. V‑bridge is designed to connect businesses and organisations across the Vietnam‑Australia technology ecosystem, facilitating collaboration and information sharing.

DDA Director Nguyen Khac Lich said AI, semiconductors and innovation were identified as priority areas for future collaboration, with an emphasis on practical projects that deliver measurable results. Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh added that such projects should link research and product development with market needs and include workforce training.

Renee Deschamps, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, noted that Australian businesses are keen to engage in Vietnam’s digital development, especially in semiconductors, AI and cybersecurity, and are ready to share expertise and support Vietnamese companies. This joint effort could open new pathways for Vietnamese students and professionals to gain experience in emerging digital fields.
