Apple, Intel and Meta are looking to grow high‑tech manufacturing in Vietnam. Their plans could affect future jobs and skill development, so it’s worth understanding what they announced.
During a meeting in Hanoi, representatives of Apple, Intel and Meta said they want to expand cooperation with Vietnamese partners in technology, innovation and high‑tech manufacturing. The discussion also included Vietnam’s Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc and the U.S. ambassador.
The three companies proposed measures to attract next‑generation investment, develop the semiconductor industry and strengthen supply‑chain links. They see these steps as essential for building a modern tech ecosystem in the country.
They also called for greater investment in high‑tech workforce training and for a wider application of artificial intelligence to production and business operations. Such support could help Vietnamese workers gain new skills and improve productivity.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc welcomed the proposals and urged the companies, together with other U.S. businesses, to move ahead with their investment plans in Vietnam. At the U.S.–Vietnam Business Summit, he outlined five priority areas: high technology (semiconductors, AI, data), clean energy, sustainable supply chains, finance, innovation and startups, and education and training.
The Vietnamese government pledged institutional reforms to make the investment and business environment more transparent, stable, predictable and investor‑friendly. If these reforms and the high‑tech projects succeed, they could create new jobs, boost skills training and reshape Vietnam’s tech industry.
