Vietnam’s convenience‑store market is expected to grow to about 30,000 stores by 2030. Reading this article helps you see why the market will grow so fast.
Chinh Pham said the market used to add about five minimarts a day. This year the number rose to ten per day, and chains are opening stores on city edges and in rural areas to use cheaper rent.
A Q&Me survey in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi found that 81 % of shoppers pick a convenience store because it is near home or work. They also like quick, after‑work trips, which cuts big shopping trips and has lowered fresh‑food stock at home by about 20 %.
Chinh Pham said domestic chains such as WinMart+, Bach Hoa Xanh, Co.op Food and Satrafoods stay strong even though Chinese chain Ohmee has entered the market. BSA predicts modern trade’s share will rise from 16 % now to 20 % by 2030, while traditional channels fall from 68 % to 60 %.
