The Southern Regional Hydro‑Meteorological Station says heavy rain will affect Ho Chi Minh City and the wider southern region from Friday through the weekend. Understanding the forecast helps you plan travel, work and outdoor activities safely.

Rain could start in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City early Friday afternoon, and localized downpours may exceed 100 mm. The station warns that urban flooding is possible in Ho Chi Minh City and in Bao Loc, Lam Dong.

The forecast highlights Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ca Mau and Lam Dong as hotspots for the heaviest rainfall, with some areas receiving more than 70 mm. Elsewhere, scattered showers of 10‑30 mm are also expected across the southern provinces.

Thunderstorms are likely to accompany the rain, bringing whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts, which increase safety risks for pedestrians and drivers. These conditions can make roads slippery and reduce visibility, so extra caution is advised.

In summary, the weekend’s heavy rain may cause urban flooding in Ho Chi Minh City and Bao Loc, and the thunderstorms add hazardous weather elements. Stay informed, avoid unnecessary travel, and take precautions to protect yourself and your belongings.
