Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the “Sounds of Vietnam – Melodies of Life” program on October 16. The project seeks to build a digital sound bank and a national music map, tools that could safeguard the country’s musical legacy.

The initiative aims to preserve musical heritage, support cultural industries, and provide resources for artificial‑intelligence development. By collecting melodies, sounds and musical works, the programme will gradually create a Vietnamese Melody Bank and a national music map. These resources are intended for cultural preservation, artistic creation and the development of cultural‑industry products.

The program invites the public to join three online activities: a Vietnamese Sound Quiz, an Experience Vietnamese Sounds video contest, and a Create Vietnamese Sounds project where participants can compose, record or mix audio with visual art. All three activities are hosted on the official digital platform.

People’s Artist Xuan Bac said the sound bank can meet the growing demand for properly licensed audio, help creators earn royalty income, and strengthen Vietnam’s cultural identity. He highlighted that high‑quality, reusable sounds are especially valuable for creators on social media.

Submissions are open to all Vietnamese citizens, wherever they live, and to foreigners interested in Vietnamese music, with no age or profession limits. The deadline for contributions is November 30, 2026, after which the collected sounds will be added to the Vietnamese Sound Bank.
